      Verdict

      PALACE PIER, a 600,000gns son of Kingman, sauntered home in maiden and novice company over 7f at Sandown and there will be some long faces if the Derby entry can't win this. Acquitted battled on gamely in very testing ground at Newbury having made a successful debut on Polytrack at Kempton. Rich Belief was a bit unfortunate not to win a nursery here in September and will be ready for this while Embolden didn't run badly in Group 3 company at Newmarket and looks best of Richard Fahey's pair. Haydock winner He's A Keeper lost a shoe in his final start in Listed company at Pontefract but Monoski looks on a high enough mark.
