Verdict
Donna's Double still retains ability at the age of 10 but is probably a shade high in the weights at present and, with Westcourt Dream facing a difficult task from his outside draw, preference is for Balwearie. The selection is only 4lbs higher than when scoring over this trip at Ayr in July and has run with credit in two starts over further since then; Linda Perratt's gelding should appreciate the return to this trip and is well berthed in stall three. Sting Like A Bee has every chance of reversing Ayr form with Balwearie on 4lbs better terms for a neck but has a difficult draw to overcome and of more interest may be Askwith, who gained a deserved first success at Nottingham over this trip last time and cannot be ruled out off just a 3lb higher mark. United Spirit is consistent in this grade and should be thereabouts again, while Melvino has slipped to a fair mark and is another to consider. Balwearie holds solid claims though and he gets the vote.
