    In depth

    Verdict

Today’s Group 3 feature race switches from Ascot and sees the return of A’ALI (NAP). The latter won three times over the minimum trip at Group 2 level last year including the Norfolk Stakes and the Flying Childers and looks worth another try over today’s distance given his only previous attempt came in testing ground. He beat Dream Shot at Doncaster and Dubai Station and Ventura Rebel at Ascot with the latter looking a big threat on today’s more favourable terms and is preferred to Ventura Lightning of the three Fahey runners. The latter fell victim to Aberama Gold when Keith Dalgleish’s charge landed the Rockingham at York in October while Malotru is another to consider having posted an improved effort when winning a Listed contest over 7f at Lingfield in February. Troubador showed good progress in 2019 while better is expected from Gravity Force this year despite having plenty to find on these terms.
