NonRunner

In depth

Verdict

Dreamweaver ran well in a higher grade at Newbury a fortnight ago and meets Songkran on more favourable terms than when finishing second to the latter at Haydock back in August. NATTY NIGHT also placed at Newbury last time and, racing off a similar mark as when scoring at Newmarket earlier, Bill Muir’s charge gets another chance in an open contest. Groveman won here early in the year but has struggled subsequently while Olympic Conqueror’s earlier double came at Kempton but Matewan has won over track and trip off today’s mark in the past and Sweet Dime finished runner-up here last month.

Groveman 66-1 (8-9) Led early, headed after 1f but chased clear leader, lost second over 3f out, stopped quickly, 13th of 14, 28 3/4l behind Strait Of Hormuz (8-4) at Doncaster 1m 2f hcp (2) gd in Sep.

Natty Night 3-1 (9-1) Led, 3 lengths clear 5f out, reduced lead 3f out, ridden and headed 2f out, driven and rallied inside final furlong, 3rd of 7, 1 1/2l behind Union (8-8) at Newbury 1m 4f hcp (3) gd in Sep.

Matewan (IRE) 10-3 (9-12) Prominent, pushed along 2f out, briefly short of room just before 1f out, eased closing stages, 6th of 7, 10 1/2l behind Kitten's Dream (8-9) at Catterick 1m 4f hcp (4) gd in Sep.

Olympic Conqueror (IRE) 10-3 (9-5) Tracked leaders, chased winner 3f out, soon ridden, kept on same pace final furlong, 2nd of 8, 5l behind Delph Crescent (8-5) at Ripon 1m 2f hcp (4) gs in Sep.
