    Verdict

ALLANARD made short work of some exposed types on his introduction to fences at Wetherby and appears to face a similar task here. A 7lb penalty complicates matters slightly but the seven-year-old still receives weight all round and is likely to race off much higher marks in the near future. Baltic Pathfinder hasn't really fulfilled his potential over fences and was well beaten at Wetherby last month, while Lockstown almost certainly needs a longer trip. Mr Syntax was finishing out of the frame for the first time in 10 career starts when only eight at Catterick last time however. Like Monsieur Jourdain, he probably has more to offer over fences but looks to be up against a well-treated rival here in the selection.
