In depth

Verdict

Dealer's Choice may have had it easy after Audacter departed in the early stages of his Folkestone victory but he looks very much one to stay on the right side of. With Mick Fitzgerald booked, we'll give our vote to Mark Pitman's charge despite his welter-burden. Midnight Gunner comes here after a gutsy victory at Ludlow. He was six pounds out of the handicap on that occasion but should be capable of another good run albeit in better company. Pharpost has yet to shine since joining Venetia Williams from Nicky Henderson. Eltigri and King of Sparta look best watched in the market for clues as to their chances today. The most likely danger looks to be Mr Timbrology. He blotted his copybook at Wincanton last time out but he is nevertheless game and is a typical Alner horse. Our selection will have to pull out all the stops to concede almost a stone in weight to him.
