After a third at Wincanton, Dawson City won over a much longer trip at Exeter but has been found wanting off this higher mark in the past. Wotzizname is probably flattered by his defeat of non-stayer Mount Mews in a novices’ event at Doncaster but Carlisle scorer Shanroe Santos had just hit the front at Sandown last time when blundering and unseating Leighton Aspell and should go close with a clear round. THOMAS PATRICK weakened in the straight when beaten more than 20 lengths behind Dawson City at Exeter but it was probably the extra distance that was his downfall. Back in trip here, he can take his revenge on 8lb better terms as he’d looked a novice to follow when scoring at Chepstow and his stable is in terrific form. Amore Alto might need this but is worth a market check.
