Fields Of Song finished just ahead of previous winner Procurator with Mr Hobbs further behind when fourth at Goodwood last time behind Colonel Frank. The latter had earlier finished second to The Amber Fort but John Gosden’s charge was well beaten on his handicap bow at Chelmsford. Nayyar won a nursery over 5f here but then ran poorly behind Sayesse at Chester while Northern Thunder landed a double before finding life tough in Listed company at Ascot. SCORCHING HEAT needs to improve again after beating an odds-on favourite to win a maiden at Ffos Las but he’ll handle the underfoot conditions so Andrew Balding’s charge gets the nod on his handicap bow.
