In depth

Verdict

Winged Cupid can land this Listed prize, with Championship Point, Blue Ksar and Caldra likely dangers. Godolphin are double-handed here, with Blue Ksar and Winged Cupid both holding claims, and our preference is for the latter. The son of In The Wings joined the boys in blue after finishing second to Palace Episode in the 2005 Racing Post Trophy, but had been sidelined until bouncing back with a comfortable success in Listed company at Windsor last month. Obviously now well over his leg problems, the colt is reckoned capable of scoring at Group level, and so this prize should be well within his grasp. Stablemate Blue Ksar was not helped by a blindfold blowing onto Frankie Dettori's arms as the gates opened at Epsom last time, but he was beaten on merit, and will be suited by this longer trip, and any rain that falls. Championship Point was highly-tried last year, and had his sights lowered to land a Listed race at Ascot last time, while Caldra has his first crack at ten-furlongs on his return to the fray. He can go well fresh, but has it to do to lower the colours of Winged Cupid who can continue to make up for lost time.
