Verdict
Alumni News has more scope than most and can prove that here, with Not Amused and and Gaelic Roulette set to make their presence felt in the finale. John Gosden's colt made a belated reappearance when making all at Salisbury last month under a good ride from Jimmy Fortune. That was over a mile, which was a bit surprising as he made his debut over 10 furlongs at Lingfield last December, staying on behind subsequent Group 3 winner Shield. The trainer feels that now is the time to put him back up in trip however, and feels that the little problems that have affected the son of Belong To Me are a thing of the past. That being the case, he can be followed in handicap company this autumn and can prove to strong for Not Amused. Barry Hills' charge has run well since going into handicaps, including at Chester last time. Gaelic Roulette found the step up in grade too much behind Sporting Gesture at York, but was not too far behind in sixth and the form has worked out. He is one to consider for a place, but Alumni News, with Kieren Fallon on board, can add to his tally.
