Mankayan, second again at Doncaster last Saturday, is basically in the handicapper’s grip. Scarlet Dragon is still 7lb higher than when winning the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot but ran well enough in last month’s Ebor to merit consideration. At the opposite end of the handicap, Dreamweaver should be thereabouts and it would be no surprise to see Humanitarian run well off a lengthy absence. Dubai Future has been gelded and Dash Of Spice has slipped to a fair mark but FOX VARDY (NAP) had been running well over this trip before failing to stay 1m6f at Newmarket and a 2lb drop in the ratings could see him back to winning ways if he gets the run of the race.
