Arctic Desert looked more than a shade unlucky at Doncaster last week and has to be the selection to gain compensation, with Mutamared and Armagnac rated the main dangers. The selection looked the winner some way out at Town Moor but Kieren Fallon was unable to get the son of Desert Prince out of a pocket in time to collar Borrego and had to settle for second spot. The Champion Jockey is unlikely to get into a similar position today and Arctic Desert is hard to oppose. Armagnac had Pintle behind him when brought with a perfectly-timed run to win at Sandown a week ago but is likely to find things tougher here under a 6lb penalty and of more interest may be Mutamared, who returns fresh from a four-month break and appears feasibly well treated for his debut in this grade. Juste Pour L'Amour lost no caste in defeat at Epsom last week but may not appreciate the drop in trip and a bigger threat may come from Tony Carroll's Winning Venture, for who Darryll Holland has been booked. The Barry Hills-trained Flying Express is capable but inconsistent and, along with Richard Hannon's three-year-old Corky, is another worthy of a mention. Arctic Desert looked most unfortunate at Doncaster though and has to be the choice to make amends for that defeat today.
