    Verdict

A typically open Showcase event has drawn together a number of in-form sprinters such as Mubaah. Alec Stewart's charge scored in pleasing fashion in maiden company and was far from disgraced on his handicap bow at Ripon finishing a close second in a competitive field. There should be plenty of progress to come from this lightly raced individual who should go close once again despite a subsequent 5lb rise. Treetops Hotel ran well on his comeback in handicap company at Salisbury and is another for the shortlist while Silver Band and Marshalspark come here in winning form and are others to consider but Chateau Nicol, who was progressive last backend, has a low draw to overcome on his seasonal reappearance.
