Verdict
Only a pound higher than his last winning mark, Torcello ran well in the Chester Cup in May. Sam Cooke got back to winning ways over 1m6f at Newmarket last month and the second was just beaten in last week’s Mallard Handicap at Doncaster last week. MAHRAJAAN (NAP) was due to run in that race but wasn’t risked on the rain-softened ground. Today’s going should be ideal and William Haggas’ gelding deserves a change of luck. Hasty Sailor is unexposed on Turf but Moktasaab was behind the selection at York last time and is only a pound better off. Wandering Rocks was a fair third on handicap debut at Kempton but needs more.
