Clem Fandango’s run in the Queen Mary will put her among the favourites for this ultra competitive contest but she was beaten a long way into third that day, and Simmie also has questions to answer after failing twice at a higher level. Though she may lack the race experience to cope with the rough and tumble of this cavalry charge, comments which also apply to stablemate Lucky Mistake and Charlie McBride’s Newmarket winner Spiritual Lady, who may also need softer underfoot conditions. SUPER JULIUS (NAP) was a very easy winner at Chester last time and looks like a pattern-class horse in the making. There should be more to come from this speedily-bred colt and he can win this for his in-form stable. Hope Solo shaped with lots of promise when winning her maiden and she can make the frame for a trainer with a good record in this contest along with Mrs Danvers who was an impressive winner of a decent conditions race at Windsor.
