In depth

Verdict

A dual novice winner over 1m4f, ALMIGHWAR could only manage second on his reappearance but has plenty of scope stepping up in distance. Imperium won three of only four outings last year, including a double over 2m at Kempton, but Hochfeld has a bit to prove over this far judged on previous efforts and stablemate Lucky Deal is preferred. The latter has beaten Solo Saxophone and subsequent winner Cleonte over today’s trip at Newcastle and also had the measure of Australis when placed at the All-Weather Championships at the start of the month.
