    Verdict

Countykat is the pick on official ratings, but has yet to race this season, and is likely to need this so Montmartre is the selection, with Atahulepa another to consider. The latter wasn't beaten far behind a progressive sort in Unicorn Reward at Chepstow last time, and although Paul Cole's colt has a little to find at the weights, he should be thereabouts in what could prove to be a tactical affair. Countykat won twice last year and is significantly better off with all of these rivals than he would be in a handicap, but he had a busy time of it as a juvenile and is probably worth opposing on his first start for over seven months. So we side with Kieren Fallon's mount, Montmartre. Neville Callaghan's filly scored decisively at Epsom a couple of runs ago, but was then a beaten favourite at Newmarket. However, this looks a simpler task for Montmartre and she is fancied to regain the winning thread.
