    Verdict

POET gets his ground again and, though a shade disappointing so far this year, can take advantage of a slight drop in grade and hold off French Navy and Retrieve though Ahmed Ajtebi's mount will have needed his comeback run at Ascot. Qaraaba beat both of the Godolphin pair last time and can't be ignored while Expense Claim rattled up a hat-trick in the spring but has had his limitations exposed since. Hyper and Falcon's Reign appear to be out of their depth.
