MAD MAX may not find this arena as fearsome as the Thunderdome but there are some rivals capable of making him work for this contest. Pause And Clause, Shoreacres and Cockney Trucker won't go down without a fight. The selection has always stood out due to his giant frame but he has the ability to match and remains unbeaten. He won both of his bumpers at this track before justifying market support to score on his hurdling bow at Ascot. The victory didn't appear to be as impressive as expected but the second went on to thrash a Nicholls hotpot at Cheltenham and is no mug. His jumping was pretty impressive for a newcomer and he can retain his unbeaten record. Cockney Trucker was only beaten three quarters of a length by Dee Ee Williams before landing the odds at this course and he has to be respected with this longer trip sure to suit. Shoreacres was another to taste defeat at the hands of Dee Ee Williams but he could improve again for this longer trip and may not have benefited from cutting out his own running. Pause And Clause showed decent form in bumpers and could well leave the form of his run in heavy ground at Chepstow behind and he may jump more proficiently on this better ground. The market has provided a useful guide to expectations for the yard's runners this season. Teddy's Reflection won well at Fontwell but faces a different calibre of rival; however, he's worth keeping an eye on as are Penharold and Traffic Control but the main protagonists are well above average and Mad Max could be the cream of the crop.
