Pointel ran green at Windsor but stayed on strongly in the closing stages once the penny dropped and will know more today. But ULYSSES looks the one to be on having only failed by half-a-length to catch Aviator at Leicester – he can put that experience to good use here. New World Power is a full brother to Japanese Grade 2 winner Touching Speech and looks the pick of the newcomers ahead of Vanishing Point. The latter's stable won this last year and he's a half-brother to several winners though, like the stoutly-bred Marmelo, may need further than this before fulfilling his potential. The Begum is the only filly in the race but shouldn't be ignored as this is likely to be her trip and Ralph Beckett is introducing her at a realistic level.
