The Lyme Volunteer gets the confident vote here with High Cotton and Gielgud also respected in a small but competitive affair. The selection beat Lodestar at Hereford back in April, and providing he is fit after a long absence from the track, he is sure to go well. Lodestar runs in the first race of the day so the confidence behind the selection could be fuelled if that runs well. High Cotton is also worthy of consideration but this gelding was pulled-up last time out and the suspicion is that he may be better over further. Gielgud could therefore give our selection the most to do as he ran with great credit on his reappearance when a fair third behind Personal Assurance at Southwell last month. He is sure to come on for that run so is the one we fancy to chase our selection home. The other runner, Goodtime George will have to improve after being well beaten behind Fireball Macnamara, and he also has a long absence to overcome, so may need this his first run of the season. Overall, Gielgud is well respected, but we will side with The Lyme Volunteer.
