This is a tricky opener but we will take a chance on Lodestar, with The Tall Guy and Sterling Dot Com the others for the shortlist. The selection will have no problems with the ground or trip here and travelled well but faded behind Dream On Willie at Wetherby at the start of the month. This gelding is sure to come on for that pipe opener as he had been off the track since June prior to that run, and he is a confident choice. The Tall Guy could be the one that gives our selection the most to do as he ran well when 2nd behind Penthouse Minstrel at Cheltenham last month, although he has been disappointing to follow in the past so is opposed for that reason here. Sterling Dot Com would have chances on his best form and is interesting here as he is capable of going well after a break. Indeed, he won well at Warwick last December when beating Chateau Rose after a break, so could be worth following if he is supported in the market. The others don't hold much appeal, so we make Lodestar the confident selection.
