GALLIC STAR is an improving filly that deserves a change of fortune and has a live chance of registering some Black Type in this company; Pipette and Lady Artemisisia are others for the shortlist, while Pachattack showed real guts and determination to win a similar race at Newcastle in June; so she would also be dangerous to leave out of the equation. However, the selection ran a blinder to finish third in the Ribblesdale in June and, although the first two across the line went on to be well beaten in the Irish Oaks, that Royal Ascot form is the strongest piece of evidence available. Stepping up to this sort of trip appears to ideally suit Gallic Star and, as she has a solid chance to prove the handicapper is correct in his assumption that she is the best horse in the race.
