Verdict

It's a major surprise that Willie Mullins has been unable to get a race out of Champagne Agent and, though he won't get many better opportunities, he has now finished runner-up five times from 10 starts over hurdles and lacks a change of pace. His overall form suggests this could be his day but MAD BRIAN may consign him to second place again. He looked promising in bumpers before running the useful Morning Assembly close on his hurdling debut. He was fancied against the classy Defy Logic at Fairyhouse last month and though held when unseating his rider after the last it was a cracking effort and compensation awaits. Pyrus Gold Wind has steadily progressed and looked a sure-fire future winner when runner-up to King Of Firth at Fairyhouse so he's likely to be challenging for honours. The remainder will need to improve to get involved.
