A huge field of maiden hurdlers here but it will be a surprise if it doesn't rest between ASTERION FORLONGE and Pencilfulloflead. The former, a winner between the flags, didn't impress with his victory over Watergate Lady in a Thurles bumper and the latter has been beaten subsequently but jumping will bring out the best in him and he can make a successful debut. The latter easily won a Down Royal bumper in November before a fine effort in a Listed bumper at Navan. He's another certain to be suited by hurdles and looks a worthy opponent. Bold Enough, runner-up between the flags at Portrush, will likely need a stiffer test of stamina, a remark that also applies to Goaheadwiththeplan, who caught the eye on his hurdling bow at Navan.
