Verdict

Sir Chauvelin has an outstanding record around here over hurdles. Brandon Castle and Cape Cova represent stables that have been in excellent form on the all-weather. Mixboy is a useful dual-purpose performer and American Gigolo will be a threat to all if transferring his form on Polytrack and Tapeta back to Turf. Mount Tahan is probably best on an artificial surface, however, and Fire Jet may need this but Adrian McGuinness’ Carbon Dating is only a pound higher than when successful 12 months ago and has seen action in Dubai this winter. TIME TO STUDY’s only failure last year came in the Cesarewitch. He won over course and distance last June and it would be no surprise if Mark Johnston was targeting some back type this year for his tough four-year-old.
