In depth

Verdict

This should not take too much winning and Mark Johnston may have found the right opportunity for Luck In Running to make a winning debut, with Historic Appeal and Manouche also worth noting. Mark Johnston does well on his trips north of the border back to his homeland, and it is certain that Luck In Running will have been well galloped for his debut. The son of Running Stag cost 48,000gns and the dam was a multiple sprint winner in America, so his ability to last out the trip in today's conditions will have to be taken on trust, but he is not highly tried that is for sure. Historic Appeal rounded off his juvenile campaign by finishing third to Shahin at Newbury in October, and with his stable flying early, he should at least make his presence felt along with Manouche who has a bit more to do than when second on the all-weather at Wolverhampton. The market may reveal if any of the others are fancied, but in a race in which bets should be kept on the small side, we shall stay with Luck In Running.
