In depth

Verdict

Mick Channon has already made his mark in the early part of the Turf Flat season and it may be worth siding with Stir Crazy ahead of My Mirasol, Ingleby Image, Tokyo Joe and Our Toy Soldier. Despite Mick Channon bemoaning the fact that the cold winter has delayed his team in their work on the Lambourn gallops, he has still sent out four winners and six placed horses in the past fortnight, so he must continue to be followed. With that in mind, Stir Crazy is nominated to give him another juvenile success. The gelded son of Fath was only cheaply bought by comparison to some of the stable's other youngsters, but is sure to have been taught the job well, and it will not be for lack of fitness that he fails. Kevin Ryan had a terrific 2005 with his juveniles and so more can be expected this term, which augurs well for the chances of My Mirasol, a half-sister to five sprint two-year-old winners. Ingleby Image hails from a stable that has been ticking over nicely during the winter months, while Tokyo Joe is nicely drawn in stall one at least. Bryan Smart has a big team of youngsters as well this season, with Our Toy Soldier one of the more forward. All in all this line up should pay to follow over the next few weeks, and today it can pay to side with Stir Crazy.
