A terrible contest where Mardi is thrown in here on official ratings and has to get the nod ahead of top weight Drizzi, while Annibale Caro must be therabouts if giving his true running. Mardi has not won since landing a Southwell maiden in December, but being by Montjeu should handle this ground, and ran well from a mark of 67 in a Lingfield handicap in August. In context that was good form here, and if he can put a dismal effort last time behind him then he can score. Drizzi has been going well in minor handicaps and sellers lately, and does gets this trip and handles conditions too, so Tony Carroll's runner is respected, although the yard could be in better form. Annibale Caro is the highest rated of these from a mark of 75 but before getting carried away with that, his recent form is far from inspirational and he would prefer better ground. Watch the market for any other clues, with quite a number wearing first-time headgear, but our vote goes to Mardi.
