In depth

Verdict

Jan Smuts has been a fine servant to the Storey yard and came right back to form with a runaway success here recently. The veteran was hit with an 8lb rise for the victory but is still 4lb out of the handicap and now goes up two grades. FOUR KINGDOMS and Golden Jeffrey were one-two at Ayr last time but the latter is weighted to turn tables here. However, he gives the impression of not being the most straightforward and it may be best to stay with the younger horse who is progressing well and may have more to offer. Great Fighter has taken time to come back to form but should give a good account after two much better efforts of late.
