A tricky opening to proceedings as none of these find winning easy. The vote goes to ECHO OF LIGHTNING who, unlike the his rivals, does have scope for improvement after just half a dozen starts and showed improved form on his first run for Brian Ellison when runner-up in an ordinary Newcastle handicap. His best form has come on the soft but he does handle quicker conditions. Bapak Pesta is consistent if hard to win with and should be in the mix while Perfect Words is not ruled out and will be all the better for an acceptable reappearance. Mr Chocolate Drop remains capable at a lowly level.
