It is hard to get away from SIR ISAAC in this handicap and he is nominated over Inheritor and Spinners End. The selection is quickly turned out after running a race full of promise at Sandown on Friday when he chased home Yirga. He won't need to improve much to win this and with the stable in good form he looks a solid bet. Inheritor is the obvious alternative as he wasn't beaten far behind Kyllachy Star at York last time and that form was given a boost when Kyllachy Star won well at Sandown on Saturday. Spinners End ran well in a competitive handicap at Newbury last time and the yard continue in good form. However, he will need them to go a decent clip if he is to be seen at his best and he may not get the pace he requires in this small field. Peter's Gift will find this tougher than the race he won last time, and we will stick with Sir Isaac as our preferred option.
Inheritor (IRE) 6-1 (8-5) Held up, headway over 2f out, challenged over 1f out, ridden and every chance final furlong, kept on, just held, 3rd of 9, 1/2l behind Kyllachy Star (8-11) at York 7f hcp 0-90 (3) gf in May.
Sir Isaac 6-1 (8-13) In touch 4th, progress on inside 2f out, led narrowly just inside final furlong, no extra when headed final 100 yards, 2nd of 10, 1l behind Yirga (8-12) at Sandown 1m 3yo hcp 0-85 (4) gd.
Spinners End (IRE) 7-1 (9-6) Behind, ridden and headway over 1f out, stayed on to take 3rd inside final furlong, never any chance with front pair, 3rd of 15, 5l behind Peking Prince (9-2) at Newbury 1m 3yo hcp 0-75 (5) gf.
