        Verdict

        SECOND REEF and Drive Home finished behind Shunkawakhan over a longer trip here last month but Tom Cuthbert's nine-year-old is better off at the weights today and will have needed his comeback run. He gets a tentative vote in a race that probably won't take much winning. Powerful Pierre, who was engeged at Beverley last night, was only beaten a nose off this mark on that track nine days ago and should go close again if taking his chance, while Hellbender can confirm recent Hamilton running with Bernice. Blues Jazz was a fair fourth over 5f at Hamilton last time but has been found wanting over longer trips in the past.
