Sound And Vision has shown enough in three starts previously this term to suggest that he can take a race of this nature and is preferred to the mark Johnston pair of Michaels Pride and Port d'Argent. The last mentioned is open to improvement after just three starts but is bred to want further being a half-brother to the stayer Mana d'Argent and is probably best watched on his debut in a handicap. Stablemate Michaels Pride opened his account in a banded stakes race at Leicester earlier this month and has to be respected on today's faster surface that should suit but the handicapper has seen fit to raise him 5lbs for that success which looks harsh. Best Game has been running with credit of a similar mark to today's on the all-weather of late but has yet to prove that he is as effective on turf, while Sweet Potato is held by the selection on running behind Uncle Bulgaria at Newcastle last time. That was a fair effort by Sound And Vision that day and, off the same mark here, the Michael Dods-trained gelding holds solid claims.
