Verdict

Mappin Time was thereabouts in better company at York last time but has not won on Turf since 2012. DISTANT PAST looks a safer proposition as he is a winner without a penalty having landed an apprentice's race over track and trip a week ago with Imperial Legend, Economic Crisis and last year's fourth Go Go Green all beaten. Captain Dunne was behind Mappin Time a fortnight ago but had earlier beaten subsequent winner Rothesay Chancer and Money Team at Thirsk while Classy Anne also has claims on last month's win at Ayr with Long Awaited well beaten. Meadway was progressive last season and returns to action off a 3lb higher mark after winning at Southwell in November.
