Mark Johnston's LONGBOAT KEY should be better than his early gambit's have shown and is given the pick marginally ahead of Dazzling Light and bumper winner Saga de Tercey. The selection is related to several decent sorts around this trip including a Juddmonte International winner. His yard have been in good form for some time now and it could be the step up in trip and fast ground will bring about his best. Dazzling Light has shown a little bit more that the selection in limited starts so far but is not as well bred. He'll handle the fast ground just fine but it could be that this trip is a slight stretch of stamina. That's definitely not the case for Saga de Tercey who won his bumper over two miles. That came on quick ground and he has every chance of building on his debut effort. There are plenty of unknowns in the field so check the market for clues but if breeding finally comes to the fore Longboat Key should be the winner.
