Wind surgery looked to have worked the oracle with GUN MERCHANT (NAP), who was heavily supported at Newcastle and never looked like being caught. That wasn't a great race but neither is this and a 3lb rise looks manageable. Permission Granted makes his debut over fences after 21 starts over hurdles where he has won twice. Dequall is another having his first start over the bigger obstacles while dual hurdles winner Ashjan is 0-14 over fences. Holme Abbey hasn't improved since winning a novices' handicap at Hexham in May but Dora De Janeiro has won over hurdles around here
