Verdict

Rowan Lodge comes here in good nick and Jim Boyle's charge gets the vote ahead of recent winners Oeuf A La Neige and Grandad Bill. The selection is the most consistent horse in the lineup and only found the progressive Young Bertie too hot to handle last time out. He is suited by any ground so won't be put out by any rain and having struck up a good partnership with Harry Poulton (including chucking him off after winning two starts back) he is taken to get his head back in front. Grandad Bill prevailed by a short-head at Thirsk last time on quick ground and should again go well despite a 3lb rise in the weights. Some of these are very well-handicapped on old form, namely Redwood Rock, General Feeling and Oeuf A La Neige, of which the last-named makes most appeal. A game winner at the track last time out, a 6lb penalty may not be enough to stop a repeat performance. At a price Apache Nation could go well, especially if the heavens open, however it is Rowan Lodge who is given the vote.
