Verdict

ECONOMIC CRISIS beat last month’s easy Hamilton winner Lomu on worse terms at Ayr in June and was closing down Powerallied at Chester last Saturday. He’s been a bit of a flag-bearer for the Alan Berry stable this year and can pick up the winning thread again. Like the selection, Royal Brave is bidding for a fifth course win and should run his race again. Excessable looked as though his turn was near when second at Catterick and Dapper Man has already won five times this year, though the handicapper looks in charge now. Desert Law usually contests better sprints than this but has been showing his age this year.
