In depth

Verdict

Superior Command won a similar-class handicap over the track and trip in January and made a bold bid to defy a 6lb rise on a return visit. Violiniste completed a four-timer last spring, mainly on quick ground, and is much better than he showed on his Irish hurdles debut at Navan. G'DAY AUSSIE has completed a double in good style and though Brian Ellison's four-year-old has shot up the ratings he's taken to complete a hat-trick. However, Brian Hughes, who has ridden him to both victories, is on board the lightly-raced Spiculas here so Malcolm Jefferson's charge is greatly respected. Another youngster, Silver Streak, has gone up an incredible 20lb for a facile victory on his debut for Evan Williams at Taunton in December while Jonny Delta has had his last nine starts on this track, winning a better class handicap than this from just 2lb lower in the same month.
