      Verdict

Kentucky Star landed a course and distance handicap in good style in December but was well held when falling in a better class race on a return visit on New Year's Day. Shantou Tiger won a similar handicap at Bangor in October and has subsequently finished second in three starts on this track. He's continued to climb the weights without winning but should still give a good account. PULPITARIAN (NAP) was tackling this trip for the first time when gaining his first victory over hurdles on his 16th start here in January. He won with something in hand so a 5lb rise doesn't look enough to prevent a follow-up. Improved did just that when battling to victory at Fakenham and with Philip Kirby striking form he looks a threat.
