The first six home in the trial are engaged and there could be a different result this time. Dark Matter, the only Southern Hemisphere entry, won that from the fast-finishing KINGLET with the long-time leader Rassam just behind in third, Mehdi close up in fourth and Surfer and Mickdaam, who looked in need of the run, not too far behind in fifth and sixth. Rassam started odds-on after his debut success at Kempton and Frankie made plenty of use of him so he may be ridden with more restraint this time and will probably start at short odds again. That race was over 7f and Dark Matter battled back in the style of a horse who will like the extra furlong. He's won a handicap subsequently and will take some beating but Kinglet should have his measure this time as Mickael Barzalona must have thought he was on Pour Moi as he was a very long way behind for most of the race before finishing strongly.
