      Verdict

      Firnas refused to race here in October but made amends with a battling victory at Jebel Ali for which he's up 6lb. Grand Argentier is an infrequent winner but is generally thereabouts at this level as he was on his comeback in October when just failing to concede Secret Trade 6lb. He should get into contention again though MARK OF APPROVAL looks the one to beat. A winner for John Gosden at Southwell, he made a successful debut here in October and produced an even stronger run in a better handicap a month later. Welford beat Grand Argentier narrowly here in March and, though not in the best of form, has slipped to a very fair mark. Silken Dancer, a winner for John Gosden at Windsor in 2017, was having his first run since that year when fourth here in October so improvement looks guaranteed.
