Just four of the 21 races run at the Carnival this year have been won by favourites but hopefully the form is settling down. Coventry Stakes third Roayh shared the spoils in a three-runner race on the Polytrack at Kempton in September and his yard have been firing the winners in, though not all of them ridden by Frankie. Three of the top four are bred in Brazil but Energia Carioca has won on the sand here and could have the edge. Ahlaain ran well in the Group 3 Somerville Tattersall Stakes at Newmarket in September and Dave Simcock should have him ready but the admirable KRYPTON FACTOR, five times a sprint winner for Sir Mark Prescott last year, made a fair Carnival debut on Tapeta a couple of weeks ago. That was over 7f and whether he quite stayed the trip is debatable but Introvert, Lord Of The Stars and Abstrato were behind and he gets the vote to become a first Carnival winner for Fawzi Nass.
