In depth

Verdict

DAWN COMMANDER, the winner of a point-to-point and a maiden hurdle in Ireland, ran very well in a handicap hurdle at Bangor a month ago before being sent to Cheltenham for the Albert Bartlett where he was in touch until two out. This represents a massive drop in class and he should gain his first success for Charlie Longsdon. Finnegan Paddy, another winner between the flags in Ireland, has been consistent enough for Tim Vaughan and won't mind the ground despite his recent efforts being in testing conditions. He looks the main threat though Jonny Rye produced a cracking effort for a 66/1 chance on only his second start over hurdles at Southwell and won't need to improve much to get involved.
