Reno is selected to master Kalambari and Smoothie in a race that will not take too much winning. Most of these can be safely ruled out, and the recent winning form of Reno catches the eye. Chris Thornton's charge had been running well without reward before coming good at Hexham a fortnight ago. She displayed battling qualities in disposing of Talamar Lady in a mares' only event to open her account at the 11th time of asking, and lines up on a mark of 96 for her first venture into handicap company. Against this opposition that might not be at all harsh and she is taken to follow up. Kalambari seems to have his own ideas about the game and did not go about his business when asked to at Hereford last time, so is hardly a solid betting proposition, while Smoothie made a costly error when second in a poor contest at Newton Abbot. He does have a light weight though, and makes more appeal than many others for a place. Iloveturtle has to give weight away all round but has track experience so is worth a mention, but Reno has more chance than most and looks the one to be on.
