Verdict

Winning point-to-pointer BE THERE IN FIVE progressed nicely over timber but was never competitive on his chasing debut in a Newbury Grade 2. Nicky Henderson's charge was beaten when a short-priced favourite by Hollo Ladies at Southwell subsequently with Quo Video a long way back but the winner looks a useful prospect and compensation awaits here. Alderley Rover needs a thorough test of stamina, as he demonstrated when landing a 3m1f handicap over hurdles at Aintree in May. He jumped much better at Hereford last time but may not get the required stamina test. Sergeant Pink won twice here over timber just over a year ago and finished first on his chasing bow at Huntingdon in November only to be disqualified. He blundered his way round Warwick a week later but probably hadn't recovered from that hard race. Mexican Pete has had a long and varied career and has performed with credit on both starts over fences but lacks a bit of scope nowadays.
