Emerald Chieftan landed a Class 5 novices' handicap over hurdles at Sedgefield and only went up 3lb but couldn't quite cope when stepped up to this grade at Southwell. The veteran Invicta Lake was on a very long losing run before winning easily at Fontwell last month but ran poorly on a return visit 10 days later.
