Nocatee won like an old hand when making a winning start to his hurdling career at Stratford last week and is fancied to follow up, with Wood Lord and Quarry Island rated the main dangers. Martin Pipe's Wood Lord was a winner in France last month but may need more time so a bigger threat to the selection may come from Quarry Island. Martin Todhunter has his string in good form at present and the recent flat winner has to be respected first time up over hurdles. Mary Reveley's Hernando's Boy was probably the best of these on the flat although that does not say a great deal. Pat Haslam does well with his juvenile hurdles so Dame Nova should not be underestimated but stablemate Nocatee, who holds Desert Tommy and Urban Knight on Stratford form, sets a decent standard and looks the one to be on.
