In depth

Verdict

Calusa Caldera has yet to translate his hurdles form over fences for Philip Hobbs and, while running creditably when chasing home That's Rhythm at Bangor last time, he looks booked for a place at best in a race taken to go to WIND INSTRUMENT, who gets the vote ahead of Luccombe Bay. John Quinn's mare has shown a reasonable level of ability over hurdles but is probably in the handicapper's grip at present so now makes her debut over fences but she faces no easy task first time over the larger obstacles and may have to settle for minor honours behind the selection. Solar Rock has given little sign of encouragement in five starts so far, while Scuzme who showed limited signs of ability over hurdles has been well held in both starts over fences. Good Line, a winner over hurdles at Cartmel in July, has not progressed since that success and looks best watched on his first start over the larger obstacles. The vote then goes to Alan King's Wind Instrument who has been well held of late but he had little chance behind Wichita Lineman at Cheltenham last time and it will be a surprise if he cannot resume winning ways in this company today.
